Pumpkin corn may prevent vision deterioration
A study has reported that papaya and corn pigments may help women prevent vision loss.
US researchers have found that the pigments of yellow plants have an effect on preventing people from aging yellow spots.
Initially, researchers suspected that the deterioration of macular retina may be related to diet, especially to zeaxanthin and lutein found in corn, cucumber, egg yolk, and some green vegetables.
Wisconsin, U.S.A. investigated the effects of these two plant pigments on the eyesight of 1,787 women aged 50 to 79 years, and found that the diet of women under 75 yearsHigh levels of these two plant pigments reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration.
But the study has not identified a link between the two.
